Thermoplastic piping for a chemical dosing plant

Where the medium eats steel, the question stops being schedule and starts being which polymer. A dosing skid built in PVC-U, PP and PVDF.

Dosing lines carry small volumes of aggressive product at modest pressure. Carbon steel is the wrong material and stainless is often an expensive way to be corroded slightly more slowly, so the sensible starting point is thermoplastic.
The GF system range covers the span in one jointing philosophy, which is what makes it practical to mix polymers on one skid without mixing trades.
What went in
- PVC-U on the ambient dosing lines, solvent cemented, 6 to 400 mm.
- PVC-C where service ran warm, to 80 °C.
- PROGEF® PP fusion jointed to 500 mm on the larger transfer lines.
- SYGEF® PVDF on the two lines the other three could not take.
One thing worth flagging on any thermoplastic scope: the fittings and the instrumentation are part of the system, not accessories to it. Specifying pipe and then sourcing valves elsewhere is how a dosing skid ends up with three jointing methods.
Choosing between PVC-U, PP and PVDF
Send the medium, the concentration, the temperature and the pressure. The polymer usually falls out of the first two and the jointing method out of the last two.
